HELLO

Hello and we look forward to welcoming you in joining our family. I am a Semi-Retired Hospital Pharmacy Technician, my husband Shami is a Chef and is an excellent cook! Ash who is 18 years of age attends Walsall College and is studying for a Diploma in Carpentry. Nihal is 16 years of age and is studying for GCSEs at Joseph Leckie School in Walsall. In the evenings, we like to try to eat together as a family and chat about the day and future plans, later we may watch our favourite movies. At the weekend we visit family and friends, go shopping and students can either join us or do their own thing. We are pretty much easy going and enjoy welcoming students to our home and becoming part of our family and learning about other cultures. When you first arrive, it may be a bit of a culture shock as England can be very different to your own country, you may feel homesick, but talk to us about it and we will help you to adjust and have a really great time during your stay. We have been hosting for 5 years now and our previous students keep in touch.

What we Offer

We live on a fairly quiet road and have great neighbours! We have a fabulous Farm shop next to our house that more or less sells most things from Fresh Organic Produce of Fruit and Vegetables, Cakes, Meat, Flowers, Garden Ornaments and real Birds which are a great pleasure to see singing and twittering.Your room is a comfortable single room with wardrobes and desk and chair for study. We have a living room, shared bathroom which is always kept spotlesly clean plus a dining room and kitchen that you are welcome to use while you stay with us.

Where we Live

The house is about 10 minutes’ walk to the bus stop to go to Walsall Town Centre and it takes approximately 20 minutes to get there depending on traffic. Walsall Town Centre has a lot of shops including market stalls. It has a cinema which has not long opened and is surrounded by lots of lovely restaurants that you can sit outside by the canal and enjoy food or a drink. We have lots of lovely shops to shop at but depending on what country you come from they can either be very cheap or very expensive. There is a local swimming pool and several gyms. To reach Birmingham City centre you can take Bus 953 which takes approximately 1 hour to get there.
