If you would prefer to make your own way travel arrangements to your homestay accommodation, you can either:
1) Travel by train from Birmingham International to Birmingham New Street station which is located in the city centre. Birmingham International Airport is directly connected to Birmingham International Train Station by a free Air-Rail Link monorail system. It is clearly signposted as you enter the Arrivals area.
The Air-Rail Link operates between 3:30am and 12:30am daily. The Air-Rail Link is free-of-charge and takes approximately 90 seconds to travel between the two points. The journey to Birmingham New Street takes approximately 10 minutes and costs £3.10 (price accurate as of January 2020). From there you can take a taxi to your homestay address.
2) Order an Uber taxi from the airport direct to your host family address.
Airport transfer by car from London airports take an average of 2 hours to Birmingham city centre or your Birmingham homestay accommodation in moderate traffic and is the fastest way to travel to your homestay in Birmingham but there are more cost-effective options available to you.
It’s 93 miles/149 km from Heathrow Airport to Birmingham International and the average journey time by train is 2 hours 51 minutes. Prices start from as little as £15 if you book in advance but will be more expensive on the day. Prices may vary due to time of the day, route and class you book.
You will travel from Heathrow Airport’s underground (Tube) station to Euston Train Station. From there you will change from underground (Tube) train to overground train and travel to Birmingham International or Birmingham New Street.
It’s 118 miles/189 km from Gatwick Airport to Birmingham International and the average journey time by train is 3 hours 14 minutes. Prices start from as little as £20 if you book in advance but will be more expensive on the day. Prices can vary due to time of the day, route and class you book.
You will travel by train from Gatwick Airport to London Victoria. From there you will catch the Tube from London Victoria to London Euston and then change to train from London Euston to Birmingham International.

The National Express Bus services from both Heathrow and Gatwick offer great value for money with prices starting from as little as £6. Journey time is an average of 3 hours depending on traffic conditions. A representative of Warm Welcome Homestay Limited will meet you at Birmingham International or Birmingham Coach Station and drive you to your homestay and introduce you to your host family. You will usually have a day or two to settle in before you begin your English Language course.
If you’re coming to the UK as part of a group for your English language course, private coach transfers can be arranged from any airport in the UK. You will be met at the airport by one of our representatives who will accompany you on the journey to Birmingham. There you will be welcomed by your host/host family who will be delighted to meet you and welcome you to your new homestay.
